COMMUNITY INPUT

What could/should

·         Better define, reach out and target people in neighboring suburbs and neighborhoods to increase enrollment.

·         Share staff with other schools/parishes.

·         Ads on wall space to raise revenue for school

·         Craft sales – items made by students

·         Solar panels/Alternative energy

·         Capital campaign for educational endowment

·         Identify what items are needed and ask for donations for specific needs

·         Selling the assets of the childcare center/program

·         Utilizing parent volunteers for specific administrative tasks

·         Advertise/market social justice/outreach programs and provide consultation to other parishes on how to do it (for a fee)

What should Catholic education look like in 2015.

·         Continue to be welcome and open to all

·         Continue to support students academically, emotionally and spirituality.

·         Christian outreach – help people in the neighborhood

·         Maintain quality of school and build on it.

·         Maintain mission of school – academic, spiritual, Christian/Catholic.

Suggestions

1.        Invite community members (not church members) to sponsor a student. For example an art/ad agency.

2.        Perhaps children could donate some of their artwork to be sold to support tuition.

3.       Faribault Woolen or other textile factories or clothing stores would donate sweaters, shoes, etc. to cut down on what you spend for those items for needy folks.

4.       Do a marketing video

5.       Have famous people come to fundraising and market that they’ll be available for autographs.

6.       Campaign to have new donors fund scholarships so that cost be spent somewhere else.

7.       Identify successful Catholic citizens and approach them to support the school in was trailed to their personal passions – i.e. Joe Mauer – scholarships for boys or donate gymnasium for all kids. Successful women CEO’s scholarship for girls with business promise., etc.

8.       Instead of asking for a certain amount of money say what is needed to allow people to donate certain items on the list.

9.       Have benefit concerts, readings, etc. by artists who donate their time.

10.   Have faculty play students at a game and charge admission

11.   Have a kids’ money making project.  Have one of the teachers claims it so impossible that he’ll/she’ll shave her head if the kids accomplish it (but don’t let the kids know it was planned)
