Parish Pastoral Council Meeting
Minutes
September 26, 2002 Present: Fr. Steve, T. Jack, P. Kempe, K. Goldenstein, D. Kennedy, L. Sellars, B. Montgomery, S. Clarke, W. Nelson, M. Olson Absent: J. Gilberg, J. Finnegan, J. Sekevich Others Present: M. Edwards Listening Sunday: Suggestions received from parishioners include a need to have a full-time parish administrator. Alumni Reunion: Michele Edwards reported on the successful St. Matthew’s alumni reunion on September 20. The celebration enjoyed a very large turnout with alumni from as far back as the mid-1920’s and a national and international scope. Neighborhood Development Alliance: Brief discussion of cooperation with West Side Neighborhood Development Alliance and funds for Day Care Center and possible merger. Parish Plan Progress: B. Montgomery suggested we review the most recent Parish Plan (Project 2000) where we can re-examine the goals, see our progress in achieving them, & amend them where necessary. K. Goldenstein will prepare copies of Project 2000 for current Parish Council Members for the next meeting. Parish Council Role: Fr. Steve presented to the Parish Council copies of The Decree on the Apostolate of the Laity, and began the discussion of The Role of The Parish Council. The Code of Canon Law, specifically Can. 536 and Can. 529 §2 cited. Further discussion on this topic is slated for future Council meetings. Constitution of the Church of St. Matthew: Discussion began to review the St. Matthew Church Constitution, with an examination of the Constitution of the Community Council of The Church of Pax Christi of Eden Prairie. Master Calendar: D. Kennedy suggested getting email notifications and/or information on the St-Matts.org web site for every committee meeting schedule. K. Goldenstein will assemble this information and disseminate via email and hard copy for next scheduled meeting. Meeting adjourned 9 PM. Respectfully Submitted, Marty Olson, Secretary, Parish Council |
